What would you say if I told you that there are bets that you can make, right now, on which NFL coach is going to get the boot first? Well . . . you don’t have to look to hard to actually find sites that are placing odds agains some of the leagues big names.

While we may not condone benefiting from others misfortune, it’s interesting to consider some of the more volatile situations plaguing the NFL right now.

For one, Redskins coach Jay Gruden is squarely on the hot seat.

Many believed Gruden would be fired at the end of last season, but he survived, and was invited back for another year. Gruden has been the team’s head coach since 2014, and it’s fair to question if he’ll ever amount to all that much more aside from a former arena football player, and a solid offensive coordinator.

The Redskins currently have three quarterbacks fighting for the starting job, and that doesn’t project well for the team’s outlook, especially given how the offensive line and secondary looks. Not only that, the NFC East is a ultracompetitive devision, which is why the Redskins are not expected to win more than six games, and Gruden is also the favorite to be the first head coach to be fired.

Of all the market places where betting on the NFL is seeing a surge, especially in unique categories, the New York market seems to be the hottest as the gear up for everything from the first coach to get the book all the way to betting on Super bowl in New York. For anyone interested, odds for the great coach walk of shame sit right now at:

Jay Gruden (Redskins) +300 (3/1)

Pat Shurmur (Giants) +700 (7/1)

Matt Patricia (Lions) +1000 (10/1)

Bill O’Brien (Texans) +1400 (14/1)

Dan Quinn (Falcons) +1350 (27/2)

Doug Marrone (Jaguars) +1600 (16/1)

Mike Zimmer (Vikings) +1800 (18/1)

Adam Gase (Jets) +2000 (20/1)

Brian Flores (Dolphins) +2000 (20/1)

Jason Garrett (Cowboys) +2000 (20/1)

For our money, we see solid value on Matt Patricia, given how many head coaches the Lions have gone through in recent years. And don’t sleep on Bill O’Brien who is a very likely candidate as well.
