Raiders sign RB Kory Sheets

The Raiders have signed RB Kory Sheets to an undisclosed as yet contract, per Aaron Wilson of National Football Post.

Sheets initially came into the NFL in 2009 as an undrafted free agent after playing at Purdue. He played for the Dolphins in ’09, carrying twice for 5 yards in two games. After leaving the Dolphins, he made his way to the CFL and onto the squad of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The Roughriders had a good year in 2013, winning the CFL equivalent of the Super Bowl, the Grey Cup. Sheets was also named the MVP of the Grey Cup.

In 2013, Sheets ran for almost 1600 yards and had 12 touchdowns rushing. He also caught the ball 37 times for an additional 264 yards.

Sheets is no lock to make the roster but he has a decent shot based on that production. He would likely serve as a change of pace back to Rashad Jennings, who is expected to re-sign with Oakland soon.
