Raiders resign Pears, cut Figurs

The Raiders re-signed Erik Pears, whom they originally cut a week ago, and released wide receiver/kick returner Yamon Figurs to make room.

Erik Pears originally signed with the Raiders prior to the 2009 season after two years in Denver. He started four games for the Raiders in 2009– two at right tackle and two at left guard. During the preseason his role had been a blocking tight end and backup right tackle.

Yamon Figurs had originally been signed to a futures contract by the Raiders near the end of the 2009 season after having bounced around the league since entering the league in 2007. He was tabbed as the opening day kickoff and punt returner, but a 21 yard average on 5 kickoffs and a fumble was apparently all the team needed to see.
