Cincinnati Bengals v Oakland Raiders

In a game that was fitting for their celebration of history this season, the Oakland Raiders pulled victory from the jaws of defeat as they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 20-17 in a game where they didn't have a lead until 19 seconds were left on the clock.

Early on, this game looked like it was going to be a rout, as the Raiders were thoroughly dominated thorugh the first 20 mintues. They only had five offensive plays and the Begnals had amassed a 14-0 lead. The Raiders answered with their own touchdown late in the second quarter. Bruce Gradkowski hit Zach Miller to close off the Raiders fourth drive with 53 seconds left in the half. Sebastian Janikowski missed a 57 yard field goal as the half expired.

The Raiders offense found some rhythm in the second half, starting with their first drive of the third quarter which resulted in a Janikowski filed goal from 52 yards. Before the third quarter was out, the Bengals would score their own field goal to set up what would be a wild fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter began with the Raiders forcing and recovering a Bengals fumble inside the Raiders 20. The Raiders drove the ball to midfield before they punted it back tothe Bengals. The Raiders defense was golden, and got the Raiders the ball back in good field position after a three and out. However, on the first play from scrimmage Gradkowski as drilled as he threw the ball and the ball and it was intercepted. The Bengals moved the ball towards midfield, and punted the ball back to the Raiders where they took over with 2:12 remaining and eighty yards to go.

Gradkoski moved the Raiders to midfield, where three straight incomplete passes left the Raiders with a 4th and 10 with inside of two minutes left in the game. On fourth and ten, Gradkowski hit Chaz Schilens for 14 yards. First down was a clock killing spike. Second down, Gradkowski hit Louis Murphy at about the three, and he fought his way intothe endzone for a game tying touchdown with 33 seconds left on the clock, setting up what appeared to be an overtime game. Instead, reserve rookie tight end Brandon Myers stripped Quan Crosby and the Raiders took over at the Bengals 21. Janikowski hit the chipshot field goal and the Raiders won.

Could this be the spark that ignites the fire in our team. The QB change was needed, now we have a leader who had passion and heart. Now it is up to the team as a whole to start some winning momentum.
Great game to watch...

A great game to watch and played by talented young men who genuinely seemed to care about the outcome. A good solid team came to town and we beat them in Raider style. Good on Grad! I hope he can keep it going.

Goodbye JaFatso! I guess Al missed the game or couldn't get his headset working! Maybe they played a 1988 re-run from the LA Coliseum and he didn't notice the difference! He was happy watching Bo McFadden!

I read a post earlier today and someone called JaMarcus by a different name than JaMarcus. I know, nothing new. But the name was Jawalrus. I think people should just use it. It's better than JaFatso or JaBust. So just intelligently insult someone if you're going to do it.

GO RAIDERS!!!

I think everyone should take note on how we won this game. First and foremost, we did one thing that you haven't really seen out of us since the last win (and lord knows when before that) - bring the heat on defense. We mixed it up. Show's you one thing, if this group of players were allowed to be coached by a remotely decent modern coach we might actually be pretty good. I mean really. Any other team would have pulled JaMarcus weeks ago. Any other team would have DHB on the bench. It's when we go against the "way's of Al," that we actually do ok.

What a great game. It's a good day to be a Raider fan!
now if Cable will finally bench DHB

Now that the Raiders have a QB playing who will get the ball on target more often than not, maybe Cable will finally realize that you draft a WR at #7 overall to do more than get open. How many critical passes does DHB need to drop before he is seat warming (with road games at Pit Den and Clev coming up, we'll need some warm seats for the guys who actually make plays).
His biggest knock before being drafted was his ability to catch the ball. Sadly, that's the one thing a WR needs to do more than anything else. And sadder yet, it's the one thing he still fails to do with any consistency at all. What makes me even madder yet is to watch how he drops the ball. One of the first things you should teach a young kid about catching a pass is that you catch the ball with your hands and NOT YOUR BODY! Most of DHB's dropped passes have bounced off his shoulder pads. He keeps trying to cradle the ball in. He should have stopped catching the ball that way before playing in College.
Hopefully, now that we can't blame his lack of catches on (Jabust, Jawalrus, Jafatso, insert other funny spin on Jamarcus Russel's name here) and his inaccuracy, DHB will either start making those catches or show that he really doesn't belong on the field dropping passes.
Please note that I do believe and I have seen that he DOES get open, his routes aren't too bad for a rookie and he has blocked downfield when needed to. However, he's getting paid to catch the ball! Randy Moss runs shoddy routes at times and rarely blocks any one but it is his ability to catch (even when he's not actually open) that makes him considered one of the best WRs right now. Give me a 6'4" guy with a 30" vertical and a 4.8 40 yd dash time who can catch anything thrown his way and I'll throw him jump balls all day. You can take your 4.2 40yd dash with no hands and shove him up...

DHB your either born with it or learned it junior high school. The Nfl is no place for you to LEARN how to catch!!!Maybe Cable should use him in Special teams returning punts or something.....ASOMUGHA in my opinion would be a great WR!!!!!!!

Hate to bring up Crabtree, but sadly he is making the pic of DHB look more and more embarrassing every day. He does more in each game than DHB has done all year. I like the kid and hope he can somehow turn it around, but you have to catch the ball!
Great win for the Nation,

This should energize the team to play a Cowboys team that is going to come to play on Thanksgiving Day at home. There better not be a blow-out-after-win game. I'm tired of that B.S. Two in a row and spoiling Jerry Jones holiday isn't too much to ask for. Time to let McFadden return kicks, hell punts too. We need something from him. Cable needs to utilize players better but that will come with time and experience as head coach. High hopes but 9-7 is still possible. Only the mind can limit you.
