Raider Nation: Get ready, its time for Oakland Raiders Football

The football drought that has lasted since December of last year is finally in its waining hours. In about 17 hours the Oakland Raiders will kick off the preseason with a game against the San Francisco 49ers. It may only be a preseason game, but this is the beginning of that magical time of year where every Sunday, all that matters is what the Silver and Black are doing. Feel that adrenaline surge that accompanies Raider Sundays. Raider Nation, it is time to awaken from the slumber.

This game will be the Raider Nation's first opportunity to see a former enemy in Javon Walker now in friendly livery. He will be joined by other fresh faces in Gibril Wilson, DeAngelo Hall, and Kalimba Edwards. They will be learning the team, and its time for them to feel the love from the Raider Nation, as they already have an idea of how it feels to be disliked.

Rookies like Darren McFadden, Tyvon Branch, and Trevor Scott will be getting their feet wet in the NFL game for the first time. It will be the first glimpse into whether any of these guys end up Canton bound or not. McFadden rode the hype train all the way into Oakland, so now its time for the Nation to show their love.

This is the one chance where the Raiders and Niners will meet this year. True, its only the first preseason game, but its against the hated 49ers. If the Niners take this one, the Raider Nation will not hear the end of it, even if the game is won by a future McDonald's burger flipper throwing to a future Domino's delivery driver, with a future Wal*Mart greeter in coverage. This is about Bay Area bragging rights. This is about getting the first glimpse of the 2008 Oakland Raiders. It all boils down to one thing, its all about Raiders Football.

Raider Nation, be loud, be proud, and be sure to represent.

Ready for the Raiders to take their revenge!

I don't think Javon will play. I just have a hunch he will be held out.

KUSH you really think that with the starters playing a maximum of two drives that Drew Carter, Zach Miller, Dmac and Bush will each have a TD? That is some kind of lofty prediction. If that one came to pass I would forever call you Kushtradamus.

Even though it's just pre-season, it is the Raiders against the Whiners. Raider Nation will be pumped up to set a tone for the season. I think this Raider team is going to do some great things this year. GO RAIDERS!

I sure hope Russell plays at least a whole quarter. I hope we have some WR that can get open and catch the ball.

Bill, couldn't agree more. I think that it's going to be pretty exciting if the first team can get a good look tonight.

Kushman - Whatever you do, drive safely dude...and try not to get yourself thrown out of the game either ;-)

I'll be there nice and early. Bought 13 tickets for my kids, brothers, nephews and friends. It's time for some football and its seems like six years since we saw a good game. Raider fans need to make the Raiders feel welcome back this year.

Although I'm a Raider to the utter particle of my being, I just can't find the malice that others have for the Niners. All of my hatred is for the Chiefs, Broncos and a bit for the Cheatriots. Although, I do live in Iowa and don't have a lot of niner fans around to deal with. I can only imagine what it is like in the Bay area. (Probably about like the entire state of Iowa with regards to the Iowa vs Iowa State college FB rivalry. For Iowa State, it doesn't matter if they don't win ANY other games the entire rest of the season, if they beat the Hamkeyes it was a good season and they don't shut up about it until the next year's game.) With that in mind, and besides all of the other obvious Raider fan reasons, I hope for the sanity of all of my Raider Nation bretheren in the Bay area that the Raiders whip some niner ass!

I also hope that come tomorrow morning i don't get any google alerts with news stories about some dumb ass Raider fan making an ass of himself and making all of the rest of us in the Nation look like criminals too. So cheer, yell, scream, hoot, holler, boo, jeer, hiss, mock, insult, celebrate, etc. Just dont get the police involved.

Thanks from the Nation not in the bay so we don't have to answer for one dumb ass in a Raider shirt.

I see this being a 13-10 type game with both teams being as vanilla as possible. Starters playing the 1st qtr., then 3 qtr. to evaluate, a typical 1st pre-season game. I'm most interested to see how the O-line does, which will be key to the Raiders success in '08.

GO RAIDERS!

Raiderhawk - I can't blame you for not having any malice against the 49ers. I don't have any for the individual players or team myself, but imagine living in an area with a bunch of Mike49ers everywhere you went, except maybe not as smart. You'd develop that malice pretty quick. ;-)

Not Kushtradamus, more like NostraDizzmus! Did Javon not play?????? I cant see his name anywhere on the stats.

Give me the post game analysis Rob or Pat. A lot of good things are glaring out from that stat sheet right now so cant wait for you to summarize. (Snowyfish, NFL.com for the 2 and a half mins of magic).

Looking good Nation.....

haha you don't see any stats cuz he was 0/3 ... one sailed over his head from walter.. wow that might have been a TD from javon ... but at least he showed he has speed still and can get behind guys.. that was encouraging... but a nice floater from russell when right in his hands and he either miss caught it or the defender got a hand in there.. either way he should have been able to come up with the ball, kind of disappointing. either way i think javon has a bit to go before he can be fully 120% for the prime time opener.
