Enough with the Lane Kiffin coaching drama

The talk of the NFL combine has been the status of Lane Kiffin's job as head coach of the Oakland Raiders. This saga has been a real drain on the entire Raider Nation. The problem is that this has become one of those stories where the story has taken on "legs" despite there being nothing substantial behind it. In fact, the story itself has become the story. Lane Kiffin is in Indianapolis doing his job, just as he was in Mobile doing his job during the Senior Bowl. Today, Adam Schefter, the NFL Networks False Rumor Mongerer said that it appears that Kiffin's job is safe, so maybe, just maybe this drama can be put to bed.

The speculation in this matter has reached such insane proportions that Jerry Macdonald of the Oakland Tribune made it clear that when he finally caught up with Kiffin he was not wearing Raider gear. What is this the red carpet at the Oscars with Joan Rivers where the wardrobe is what is to be reported on? Of course, no one seemed to mention that several other head coaches were not decked out in team gear.

Lane Kiffin, Rob Ryan, and the Raiders organization have all said that Kiffin is the head coach. What more could be done? Let the speculation end, and let the Raider' coaching staff and scouts decide who they want to go after in the draft.

This draft is top heavy at several positions of need for th Raiders. Seems like there are 50 or so really good players like OL's, RB's, WR's, and to a lesser extent DL's. Seems like Raiders should be trying to trade down and stockpile a few extra picks in the first couple rounds. Give Al a call Jerry! I'd much rather have a couple late first rounders and an extra second rounder than say ONLY McFadden or ONLY Dorsey. Fans need to face the facts that Raiders are lacking in elite skill at multiple positions: DL, OL, WR, RB, S

Thank You Mr. Patterson for calling a spade a spade. The Raider Nation is sick of the rest of the NFL trying to find dirt where there is none AND ignoring dirt where there is dirt (see NE Cheatrirefs).

All true, but the PR department over at Alameda needs to be fired. They've done a huge disservice to Raider fans by allowing this nonsense to continue. And the perceived chaos is likely to hurt the team badly in free agency.

As a long time fan, I'm pissed off regardless of what's really going on. The Raiders need to do something to ease the unease of the fans. This nonsense is crap! Why aren't we talking about Jamarcus?

Yeah I've been saying this since about a week after it started. As for the Raiders PR dept., they came out and refuted it once when it happened. They're not going to keep saying it's untrue because then they make it look like they're concerned about it being true. You come out once and deny it, and then let it go. But I'm with you, I'm severely sick of the false drama, unsubstantiated rumors, and unnamed sources.

It is real obvious that the Raider haters are not going away so the Raider Nation must be patient and continue to pull together. The media, especially the Bay Area media has entered into a conspiratorial attempt to wrestle away the Raiders from Al Davis. They gone as far as asking the NFL to intervine. AD is not perfect, in fact he has been a terrible buisness man as of late, but the Raiders are his show. He is responsible for numerous division championships, five Superbowl appearances, three Superbowl championships and the greastest team of all times, the 1984 Superbowl XVIII Champions. He has earned his position in the Hall of Fame in Canton Ohio. Accolades that dwarf the rest of the AFC West. He will be gone soon so lets continue to carry the banner and prepare to send him out with the honor deserving a warrior when the time arrives. "Just Win Baby"

I wish these rumours would stop...but Kiffins body language and not wearing club colours,is just making them continue...somethings bothering Kiffin, the way he came out saying we will never go 4-12 again,at the end os the season, his attitude has seemed to of completly changed...i also heard he was locked in a hotel room with his father, when he should of been at the combine....with Loftons hiring, something aint right...

The real issue is the the fact that Al and the Raiders have ALWAYS stonewalled the press. I think of this has greatly contributed to all the nonsensical speculation and ridiculous, already refuted, rumors that have plagued us since Kiffin's final press conference at the end of last season.

My take is that something most likely did go down but Al, Lane & Rob sat down and fleshed out the gray areas in terms of who does what and what kind of changes to the team would be made. Part of that change was obviously bring Lofton on board and as more time passes we'll be privy to other decisions like who we pick up via FA, Trade and the draft.

But considering that NO ONE has been fired, or resigned since these rumors began, I think it's time we all took a collective sigh and focused on what's important: football.

I'm sick of this drama! It's like a soap for Raider fans. Al needs to hold on for a coach for 24 hours and see how it turns out for once. We've become the laughing stock of the league. Can we talk about Football for once?

I hope you all are right. Because if not in my book I am burning my money tomorro buying my tickets. And hundreds of dollars next year to drive from washington state to oakland, and all the other expenses. I hope all of the fans money goes to bettering the team. and not another year of rebuilding with no rebuilding being done.
